Proliant’s Caprylate Stabilized (Standard Grade) pH 7.0 provides a fatty acid BSA in its native state, providing the most stable form of BSA for the most sensitive cell culture, diagnostic, and research applications. Caprylate stabilized BSA has exceptional purity and low interference, utilizing heat-shock fractionation designed to inactivate proteases and other potentially interfering enzymes.

Fatty acid free BSA touts the lowest levels of total lipids, fatty acids, and non-esterified fatty acids of any albumin currently available commercially. It is optimal in applications where fatty acids can interfere with functionality such as hormone, cholesterol, or nucleic acid assays and is the preferred choice for protein fillers or bases so fatty acids won’t also be included. Fatty acid-free BSA is also highly recommended for enzymatic tests as it does not contain EDTA.

Sulfhydryl Blocked BSA offers some of the most effective BSA through a manufacturing process that effectively blocks free thiol groups to provide a high monomer albumin and ensures less cross reactivity. It can be used in acridinium ester chemiluminescence, and because it contains fatty acid and does not have residual EDTA, sulfhydryl blocked BSA is a great blocker for enzymatic assays.
